A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta
State, Mr. Brown K. Adasen has reportedly died in a hotel room in Asaba, the
state capital.
Another source claimed that Dr. Adasen was shocked to death when
he allegedly discovered that his name has be removed from the list of
commissioners in the yet to be constituted cabinet of the in-coming
administration of governor-elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. But a top source within the PDP in the state debunked the
speculation, saying that the late Adasen who was the state treasurer of the
ruling party did not go into the hotel room with any partner, adding that the
in-coming has not been inaugurated let alone constituting a cabinet.
The deceased who was residing in Warri, was said to have arrived
Asaba to partake in his inauguration as a member of End of Tenure Committee
constituted by Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan when the tragedy struck. He was reportedly driven to the Hotel on his request to have a
moment rest ahead of the ceremony but never lived to witness the ceremony.
The driver who took him to the hotel was said to have drawn the
attention of the hotel management when his boss did not respond to several
calls put across to his phone. The driver was worried as the time for the inauguration ceremony
in Government House approached without the deceased emerging from his room to
proceed to Government House. It learnt that the management of the hotel used the spare key to
open the room where Adasen’s lifeless body was found. The corpse was
immediately taken the mortuary at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC).
Meanwhile, detectives at the state police command have been
assembled to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident. Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Celestina Kalu
confirmed the development, adding that investigation has since commenced.
