  • Happy Easter Celebration

  • I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter and remind you to acknowledge the reason for the celebration behind this day.

Easter has been celebrated since the Fourth Century and has always been an annual celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Before the Fourth Century, Christians celebrated “Pascha or Pesach”, adapted from the Jews. Pesach was a celebration of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and was celebrated in Spring. Many gentile Christians did not want to accept Jewish traditions but gradually, after the Fourth Century, Easter became an accepted holiday.

Easter also has a non-religious side. During the second century, Easter was originally a pagan festival. The ancient Saxons celebrated this holiday for their Goddess of Offspring and Springtime named: Eastre. (This is the origin behind the bunny rabbit and Easter eggs. Both represent rapid reproduction of offspring.)

When the Christians noticed many tribes were worshiping Eastre, they attempted to change their faith to Christianity. The Christians slowly, but surely, spread their faith but allowed the tribes to celebrate pagan feasts and Eastre occurred at the same time as Christ’s Resurrection. Over time, Eastre was converted to a Christian celebration and named Easter.

So if you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ came to earth, died on the cross, shed His precious blood for your sins and rose on the third day you are saved and you have eternal life.  But for those who do not believe this, take into consideration that Jesus Christ is the only God who actually died to save His creation.  No other religion and no other God has made that sacrifice.

May God bless you, your family and your friends this holiday season.
