Ocholi’s Burial: Today March 18th 2016, the body of the Late State Minister of Labour. Barrister James Ocholi, Wife and Son who died in motor accident will be buried at his place in Kogi State Nigeria. The remains of the three Ocholis are now getting closer to their final destinations as they journeyed to their hometown Abocho, Dekina LGA today.
May we never experience this kind of darkness again.

l sincerely feel for the remaining children of James Ocholi who lost their father James, Blessing their mother and Joshua their brother in a ghastly motor accident last two Sundays. May the merciful God give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable lost. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace amen – Obi

How do I begin to pay this tribute to a man who was the epitome of civility, the archetype of intellectualism, and the paragon of loyalty? How do I begin to mourn James Ocholi, whom you can describe as one of my right hand men in the quest to reposition our country, and fashion a land of peace and prosperity, where no man is oppressed?
A lot has been written about Ocholi since the tragic event of March 6, 2016, which took the life of our Minister of State, Labour and Employment, his wife, Blessing, and his son, Joshua. And a lot more will be written, forOcholi was no mean man. He was a man among men, an Iroko in a forest of trees. How are the mighty fallen!
Among many other positive and pleasant things, I will always rememberOcholi for his loyalty to our beloved country Nigeria, loyalty to our party, the All Progressives Congress, and loyalty to our administration, in which he had served for just about 4 months, before death took him.
In 2015, he threw his hat into the ring again. He sought to be governor on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he had helped midwife. He still did not win at the party primaries, an eventuality he bore gracefully again.
When the APC was being negotiated into existence among the Legacy Parties, Ocholi did a yeoman’s job, contributing his quota to the legal processes. This he did under a junior lawyer, who was not a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) like him then. But what mattered to Ocholi was the birth of a strong, solid party, which could wrest power at the centre, and bring change to our country. Hierarchy is important in the legal profession, just as it is in the military.
But Ocholi subordinated pride and ego, served under his subordinate, and APC was born.
Dream became reality.
Steadily but sure-footedly, he was part of the Change Cabinet, resolved to bring our country from out of the woods, and pedestal Nigeria among the greats in the comity of nations. Then the unthinkable happened. The Grim Reaper harvested Ocholi. What a pity! Sad and tragic.
But we have this consolation: the departed has taught us fidelity, commitment and loyalty to party, to government, and to God.
He will be sorely missed.

A Reflection on Barrister James Ocholi
I first came to know Barrister James Ocholi immediately after the formation of APC in Lokoja sometimes in 2014. It was a privilege opportunity to know him and see him talk in moment of great emotional discomfort to show his opposition to the party key decisions.
His approach to the party chairman and other leaders who took side with how thing were been run than looked regal, matured and adroit despite his strong disapproval to such decision by late Audy/ Ohiare’s faction of the party.
Party faithful are quick to tell me that he hold strongly to principle and also devour anti-democratic ways of doing things the order way round.

He was an igala and a christian but monotheistic in faith and detrabalize in nature.
He displayed this when recently appointed minister of federal republic of Nigeria by president Muhammadu Buhari, by appointing two Ebira and one Okun person among his official aids.
In fact it was the beginning of his famous career, for his oratorial and articulate insightful, looking back to that momentous ministerial screening at the National Assemble.
His death is a national grief, a grief the state should mourn by flaying the national flags half mast. He is no doubt one of the epic stories of our struggle for change in Kogi state and Nigeria.
The president in his condolence message said:” the nation has lost a key component of the CHANGE agenda”.
So also were many more political leaders, technocrats, professionals and other personalities from all walks of life who has all poured more avalanche of tribute to testify to his dignity, towering virtue and achievement. Rarely do a society get his type, nor do his type grows on tree.
The lines by poet Osia Mandelstam seems apt to captured Barrister James Ocholi‘s closed passage of time on earth: ” take him into the night, where the Yemisei flows, and the spines reach to the stars for me in eternity.” May you rest in peace, in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. – Zarzey
So James Ocholi is dead and d presidency announced appointment for his only surviving son,is d son going to b d state minister for labour? He was appointed into the ministry of justice.
Meaning: There is vacancy in government for the sons and daughters of the big wigs,while u and I are battling with unemployment.
The worst part is when u criticize this government,u are Pro-Jonathan or PDPigs.

ABOCHO RECEIVES THE REMAINS OF OCHOLIS IN TEARS.
Abocho, the country home of the late Minister of Labour and Employment for state witnessed the largest gathering of people today but not for joyful reason as it received the remains of Late Ocholi Eneojo James, SAN, late Fatima Blessing Ocholi and later Master Joshua Ebiojo Ocholi who all died in a ghastly auto crash on the 6th of March, 2016 in tears.
The ONU Abocho, Alhaji Tijani Okwutachi and the Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Comr Mohammed Ali received the corpses and handed them over to immediate members of Ocholi’s family. The wake is currently going on and interments will hold 2morrow at Ocholi’s compound in Abocho.
Earlier at the valedictory Court session held at the High Court in Lokoja today, Justice Joe Olorungbogun moved the motion that the remain of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Late James Ocholi be released to the family. The Chief Judge of Kogi state Justice Nasiru Ajana who described late Ocholi James, SAN as the first resident Senior Advocate of Nigeria in Kogi state granted the motion and the corpse of Ocholis departed Lokoja to his country home Abocho.
