  • Tragedy as Unknown Gunmen Assassinate Personal Aide to Rivers LG Chairman
  • A special adviser to the Asari-Toru Caretaker Committee Chairman has been killed in Buguma, the headquarters of the LGA in the wee hours of Thursday.

    Speaking with a Punch correspondent on Thursday, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of ‎Asari-Toru LGA in Rivers state, Chief Soboma Jackrick, has confirmed that his personal aide was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Buguma, the headquarters of the LGA in the wee hours of Thursday.







     
    The victim who is identified as Godknows a.k.a Babadiba, was said to have been shot several times by his assailants, living him with no chance of survival inside his residence by the group of gunmen, who stormed the area around 1:00am.
     
    The Caretaker Chairman who spoke through his lawyer, Tubotamuno Dick, disclosed that Godknows was appointed as his Special Adviser on Business Development, adding that the victim was not a politician.
     
    He recalled that the victim was recently threatened by a group of people, who accused him of being an informant to security operatives on the criminal activities in the area.
     
    The deceased who was also selling drinks in retail and wholesale, was said to have been found dead at daybreak, a development that cause anxiety within the area.
     
    "He was appointed the Special Assistant to the council chairman on Business Development. He is always at home‎. He was recently threatened by some persons, who said he was giving information to security operatives," Jackrich added.
     
    He however disclosed that the police had been informed about the killing of Godknows, adding that a group of security operatives came to Buguma on Thursday morning and took the victim’s remains to the mortuary.
     
    The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, when contacted, said he had not been briefed about the incident in Buguma.
