An angry mob in Idah have ambushed the Governor of Kogi state and attacked his convey while he was on his way to an event.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State was on Wednesday evening
attacked by an irate mob at Idah area of the state. According to
DailyPost, the Governor was on his way from Ibaji, the hometown of his
deputy to flag off a road construction when the shocking incident
occurred.
According to an eyewitness, the youths of Idah town after sighting
the governor as he passed with his convoy, immediately mobilised and
blocked the road waiting for his return.
On his way back, security agents attached to the Governor's convoy
noticed the road block and immediately began sporadic shooting. Fear
stricken by the sound of bullets, some of the people scampered for
safety, but a few fearless ones mobilised and descended on his convoy
and battered vehicles while chanting “pay Kogi workers’ salary.”
The Governor who was supposed to supervise demolition of a house
belonging to the father of an alleged kidnapper, hurriedly left Idah to
avoid further confrontation with the angry locals.
Residents of Idah town are said to have deserted the area for fear
of being victimized by security agents. The government is yet to issue
official reaction on the matter.
