  • Facebook group users reject Rochas Okorocha’s 5.5m birthday cash giveaway; say it’s blood money

  • Members of popular Facebook Igbo group, Igboist were awoken and many left shocked by a birthday giveaway of N5.5million Naira allegedly from Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha who will reportedly clock 55 on Thursday.
    The was to be shared by the group popular admin and Ebonyi state lawmaker, Maria Ude Nwachi aka ‘Afikpo Chic’.
    To be a winner of the contest, Maria asked her group members to answer certain questions about the Governor, while also detailing interesting facts about him. She wrote;
    What do you know about this man? What do you appreciate or love about him? What can you tell us about the Executive Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha? Interesting facts you wish us to know about him would be appreciated. Chosen comments will take home 40,000 Naira each.
    Things are really hard for most of us now. It is not easy at all. The Executive Governor of Imo state, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, in celebration of his 55th birthday, made 5.5 Million Naira available to help cushion the effect for Facebookers this period; of which we can’t thank him enough.

    For the price of 40k, we saw alot of Igbos singing praises, showering the Governor with ‘Happy birthday and He is a good man’ chanting. some were seen writing eulogizing essays but many surprisingly stood their grounds and spoke their mind without allowing money to influence them, as majority believe that the money was allegedly ill-gotten.
    The Admin was seen filtering comments, removing comments that wasn’t extolling the governor, as people dropped new comments accusing her of deleting their older comments were they lambasted the Governor.
