  • Henry Onyekuru denied work permit for the third successive season
Super Eagles player and Everton winger Henry Onyekuru has been denied a work permit by the British Home Office for the third season in a row, Liverpool Echo confirmed.

The footballer who got married over the weekend was denied a British work permit over not playing at least 75 per cent of the Eagles’ matches in the last 2 years. He reportedly played only six times in the previous 12 months for the Eagles.

Though he is yet to play a match for Everton after being signed from Belgian side KAS Eupen in 2017 for €8m, the 22-year-old Nigerian footballer has increased his value by excelling on loan at both Anderlecht and Galatasaray. Onyekuru scored 16 goals for Galatasaray last season and also had an additional six assists en route to the Turkish domestic double.

The Super Eagles player might likely be loaned out again despite several clubs around Europe wanting to secure his services on a permanent basis.
