  • Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, Inhumane - YAPJEN condemns act, calls for order
  • By Joshua Nicholas

A Good Governance, Human Rights and Social Justice Advocacy Group, YOUTH ADVOCATES FOR PEACE, JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT NETWORK (YAPJEN), has condemned the continuous killings and inhumane treatment of Nigerians in South Africa.

In a Press Statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday afternoon, the group has called on the South African Authorities to unmask the identity of such miscreants and bring them all to justice.

"This is a very sensitive matter, and should not be joked with.
The same people who fought against apartheid, and racial discrimination are the ones unleashing terror and wrath on the very people who helped them in the days of their adversity. Maybe Mandela is gone and there is no one to remind them the role the Nigerian Government played for South Africa to gain her freedom which she is enjoying now.
If they have decided to bite the fingers that fed them, Kharma will surely take its course.

Meanwhile, as we don't encourage brutal retaliation and unnecessary counter attack, we urge the Federal Government to take the necessary steps swiftly to avoid such reoccurrence and protect her citizens in the diaspora, not only South Africa to be precise.
Its happening all across the sea."
The Group's President, Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu who also doubles as a MUN Ambassador stated.

We therefore call on all Nigerians to be calm and uphold the right approach to these issues, as two wrongs cannot make a right.
We don't expect the Government to carry arms and start looking for South Africans on the streets and begin to kill them; No. Diplomacy should be employed.

YAPJEN is an advocacy group positively contributing to National Development, ensuring peaceful coexistence in the society and using every available resources within her reach to empower the Nigerian youths.
