  • Dr Anu of Medcontour suspended from medical practice

    Dr Anu Adepoju, Founder, Medcontour Medical and Laser Hospital in Lagos, has been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria.

    She was reportedly suspended by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

    It can be recalled that Dr Anu was dragged before the court by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission FCCPC on July 3rd, 2020.

    In a five-count charge, the FCCPC arraigned her over allegations of a botched surgery she allegedly conducted that led to the death of a patient, one Mrs. Nneka Onwuzuligbo. The agency also accused her of obstructing the investigation by its officers into the case.

    The agency also accused Dr Anu of disregarding several summons sent to her to appear before the agency and summons by the agency to appear and produce certain documents.

    She has now been suspended by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) indefinitely from the medical profession in Nigeria with effect from 5th November 2020.

    The suspension Order was issued by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigation Panel pursuant to powers conferred on it by s15(3)c of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act Cap M8 LFN 2004.
    This was made known on Twitter by Dr Olufunmilayo who wrote;
    “Dr. Anu of Med Contour has now been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria. Remember her viral story was all over social media when Omohtee said she ruined her buttocks. Dr Anu was alleged of also killing a beauty queen in 2018 who she did surgery on.
    Dr. Anuoluwapo Olufunmi Adepoju has been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria with effect from 5th November 2020. The suspension Order was issued by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigation Panel pursuant to powers conferred on it by s15(3)c of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Act Cap M8 LFN 2004.
    She graduated from College of Medicine Unilag 2017. By December 2018 she carried out a Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery procedure on a patient who developed complications and went on to die from the complications.
    She was a House Officer when she carried out the procedure. Her suspension is till further notice. It is pending the determination of the case by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.”
