Bride Killed By Stray Bullet On Her Wedding Day
A bride has been killed on her own wedding day after she was hit by a stray bullet from a gun fired by a guest.
Mahvash Leghaei, 24, was at a party in Firuzabad, Iran celebrating her big day when she received a fatal gunshot wound to the head from a high-powered hunting rifle.
The bullet, the second of two that were discharged from the weapon, is reported to have pierced her skull before injuring two male attendees.
The bride ended up in a coma and later died in hospital. The shooter has been identified as a 36-year-old but has not been formally named, while local reports claim he was a cousin of the groom.
Firing a gun to celebrate a marriage is a common custom in Iran and some other parts of the Middle East, despite being illegal.
