The 31st President of the Nigerian Bar Association is Yakubu Maikyau, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) (NBA).
Yakubu Maikyau was named the new NBA president, on Sunday, July 17, following a virtual election for the legal body.
Professor Ayodele Akintunde, the chairman of the electoral committee and SAN, made the announcement on Sunday in Abuja along with the election’s results.
Joe-Kyari Gadzama, a fellow SAN, received 10, 842 votes, closely trailing Maikyau, who received 22, 342 votes overall to win the election.
Mr. Taidi Jonathan received 1,373 votes in total, placing him third overall.
Following the declaration, Maikyau is expected to take over the leadership of the legal body from the outgoing NBA President, Olumide Akpata.
