Jonny Evans has been named in Manchester United's squad for their pre-season friendly with Lyon tomorrow after signing a short-term deal with his former club.
Evans is currently a free agent after leaving Leicester at the end of last season following their relegation from the Premier League.
He has been training with United's Under-21s as he ponders his next move, and has impressed Erik ten Hag's coaching staff.
The 35-year-old has been rewarded with a short-term contract that will make him available for United's pre-season clash with Lyon tomorrow afternoon in Edinburgh.
He will then join up the Academy group in San Diego, while the main squad head to New York to continue their pre-season preparations.
Evans' shock return comes amid uncertainty surrounding Harry Maguire's future.
