EARLY LIFE & BIOGRAPHY 


Afrobeats/Reggae/Alte singer-songwriter. Born in March 1994 in Etsako East LGA Agenebode, EdoState, Nigeria. Moonlight was raised in a Muslim and Christian household. 

His uncle introduced him to music, and at the age of four, he began playing the drums. as his affinity for music grew over the years, he worked assiduously to teach himself how to play the guitar while earning his diploma in mechanical engineering at Abia State Polytechnic. 

This aided him in creating and composing the songs he performed in school which helped him gain popularity. In order to devote himself fully to music, he moved to Lagos in 2017. 


During the 2018 World Cup, Moonlight wrote and recorded a campaign song for Oncheck, a clothing company, titled "Eagles Wings," for the Nigerian Super Eagles.

 This song was rated as one of the best theme songs by music distribution platform Deezer and popular social media influencers such as @Tundeednut, @lasisielenu, and others.

 Not only does he make music, but he also has an outreach called “ONE MOON MEAL”, which is dedicated to sharing food with the less fortunate as much as he can with his friends. "Music and charity is my life," he said. This is where I've found my Purpose. 

Moonlight prowess continued as he began to hone his singing and songwriting abilities. Moonlight Afriqa has written and ghost written songs for other artists both locally and internationally.

 Additionally, as he develops his technique, Moonlight has collaborated on several projects with various artists. 



In 2022, Moonlight officially signed with Cosign Music Group Limited.

Moonlight shot his first music video in May 2019 for the song "what is love," which explores romantic fears and enigmas. The video was shot and directed by Blackchild Motion.

Raheem DeVaughn, an American singer-songwriter, three-time Grammy nominee, and R&B BET Award winner, collaborated with Moonlight Afriqa on this classic titled "what is it," a song produced by Vybeo.

May 2023 Moonlight released his first official single "Love Dimension" under Cosign Music Group and went on to release his first Ep Titled "Tales By Moonlight" in July 2023.


Feb 2024: released another single titled "Lock Down (Kayamata)" and also had a feautured collaboration with Iyanya with a song titled "Kiss Me"


WHY IS HE CALLED MOONLIGHT AFRIQA


From an early age, his grandfather affectionately referred to him as "UKI," which means "Moonlight." To add a sense of individuality, he added "Afriqa," separating him from others who may have the same nickname found elsewhere on the internet.
