  • Top 5 Ways Nigerian Musicians Use To Retain Their Popularity

  • As a Nigerian musician blowing is really not the issue alot have done it but can you sustain yourself at the top when you do? That's the koko. I'm here to reveal the top 5 ways Nigerian musicians used to maintain their popularity status in decades and you may have been wondering how... drumroll pls!

    UNNECESSARY BEEFS

This is one of the most common way done by this musicians, alot of them use social media as their handle to start up beefs because they know people will talk about it, yet making them known they still in the game. Sometimes it's so annoying because they think the fans are fools they are just trying to revive their declining career mostly when they trying to drop a new album and it's all mostly arranged beefs and quarrel's. It's getting stale and too obvious atleast they neeed to try new tactics. You might wake up one morning log in your social media accounts and see a old musician ranting online towards another musician..oya what's the issue so you can atleast make sense of it. They won't say.. viola the fans carried it around and he's back to mainstream.

    CONTROVERSIES

This is just like the first but it's more advanced..I mean who would have thought portable will still be around till this day? From jumping fence, allegedly forming a group, purchasing car on credit, having quarrels with baby mamas and alot more..Everyone wrote him off but dude just knows how to capitalize on all the controversies surrounding him and turning it to his favor.. bro have had songs with several artist even international musicians and might even get a grammy soon portable didn't have to fake his own death not even once while others did it twice or more yet it gave them no impacts. Surprising right? Well portable has my respect for this and nigerians have already accepted him for "who he is" and I see him been there for years to come as a legend.

    CONTROL VERSE.. SEE

I know you might been thinking what I just wrote, it's wordplays with meaning..hold on for a sec lemme explain!

you see alot of old musicians they are so good with the talents and it never dies that when they gets featured by musicians they control the entire songs, melody, and everything and you will just be wondering where have they been all this while and how good they are..these guys so good and by that they pick up again from there and viola they are back to the mainstream just like that. They 'control their verse" (control verse) see bro, they control the songs in fact they do so well outperforming the other musician on the song even if they also did well too. A good example of this was psquare ft lagbaja unlimited.... when that song was released we all saw a legend who did his work perfectly well that till today he made me fancy fuji music...GBADDEEEEE

    JUMPING ON TREND'S

No matter what, nothing last forever. Era comes and era ends..the music we have today not the same as 2010 or 2000s but still they are some musicians that have learnt to adapt to different era despite the difficulties and yet their counterpart cants. That's what makes them uniques we got a few but the most noticeable is timaya. He really didn't have turn a record label owner, show promoter to be where he is today or gifting millions of nairas to online activist to make the news. Timaya just make music's, adapts to the patterns of beats and melodies created by this genzs and he's still there in the top balling real hard. Much respect to him.

    ROLLING WITH UPCOMING STARS

This is very common with one of the big 3 easily granting features, access and remix on hit songs by upcoming and trending musicians. You might think they doing that musician a favor because he's an upcoming artist ,.giving him more publicity that's not entirely true, now hold on let me explain. They just trying to stay and remain relevant at the top because they know that remix would be streamed more and might even blow more than the original while they are in it, therefore getting more accolades and adding to their CV. so tell me honestly who is doing each other a favor?

This affects alot of upcoming musicians because they can't produce another hits songs.. the one they already had, they rushed to get a bigger star on it. The fact that you had a hit song that blow doesn't mean your next song you must have a big name feature on it.. That superstar big name musician will gladly accept because you are trending and it's always about who is hot right now. That's why I had underlying respect to Omah lay bro did it by himself.
