Thunderstorm Kills Three in Imo, Four in Critical States

Tragedy has struck residents of Obidi community, Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State as thunderstorm, on Tuesday, killed three people leaving four in critical states.

A video which surfaced online has captured an emotional moment neighborhood residents mourned the lost lives.

Also, a resident – Chukwu who lamented over the incident said it wasn’t a very serious rain that should have caused such tragedy;

“It was just a small rain that fell yesterday and three people died instantly from a thunder that struck, four other people are down, we have not seen this kind of thing before,” he said

This is coming barely 2 weeks after NiMET forecasted thunderstorms in 21 states in Nigeria.

According to the Agency, localized thunderstorms were to be anticipated in Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Lagos, Delta, Cross River, Rivers and Akwa Ibom, during afternoon/evening hours of March 24th.
