Jamal Roberts has emerged as the winner of American Idol Season 23, making history with a victory that captivated millions across the nation

The season kicked off on March 2, 2025, airing on ABC with judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood at the helm. After weeks of performances and eliminations, Roberts triumphed over finalists John Foster and Breanna Nix in a grand finale broadcast on May 18, 2025, with longtime host Ryan Seacrest leading the show.

This year’s finale saw a record-breaking turnout, with more than 27 million votes cast—surpassing all previous seasons.

Roberts’ win comes with a major career boost, including a recording contract with Hollywood Records. His deal features a $125,000 signing bonus, another $100,000 upon completing his debut album, and a production budget that could reach $300,000.

The win is also culturally significant: Roberts is only the second Black male contestant to win the title since Ruben Studdard in Season 2, over two decades ago.

Beyond the stage, Roberts is a proud father of three girls. Just before the finale, he shared the joyful news of his youngest daughter’s birth, adding a personal and emotional layer to his victory.
