Nigerian tech innovator Oluwatobi Oyinlola has achieved global recognition after developing what is now considered the world’s smallest GPS tracking device, measuring just 22.93 x 11.92mm
The Guinness World Records confirmed the feat was accomplished in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on April 27, 2025.
The miniature tracker, which has wide-ranging applications in security, logistics, healthcare, and smart technologies, represents a major leap forward in embedded systems design and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
President Bola Tinubu joined the chorus of praise for Oyinlola’s accomplishment, writing on X (@officialABAT): “Congratulations, Oluwatobi, on this feat. You have just shown the world that Nigerian youth can!”
Oyinlola, a respected embedded systems engineer and IoT expert, is no stranger to innovation. His previous creations include the SolarPocha workstation and a pay-as-you-cook technology platform, both aimed at improving access to sustainable tech solutions across Africa.
This latest breakthrough not only underscores Oyinlola’s brilliance but also places Nigerian ingenuity firmly on the global map.
