  • Police deny arrest of social media influencer
  •

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has disclosed it did not detain Blossom Williams, an Akwa Ibom-based social media influencer and mother of three

Recall that Williams was reported to have been detained by the police at the instance of Daniel Eyakenyi, the state Deputy Governor’s son.

It was gathered that the acclaimed pregnant William was reportedly arrested en route to a medical appointment by operatives of Akwa Ibom Police.

Her family members insisted that her arrest is politically driven, pointing William’s vocal advocacy for good governance and the rights of marginalised communities in Oro Nation as the likely motive.

The case further ignited a wave of public outcry, with growing demands for her immediate release and a transparent investigation into the incident.

Responding to the viral claim, Timfon John, the command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Uyo on Friday said that the command was not aware of such detention, saying: ”We are not aware of such detention for now”

A source close to William’s family told newsmen in Uyo on Friday that the social media influencer, who was currently pregnant, was forcefully taken into custody on her way to the hospital.

The source described the detention as not only politically motivated, but an abuse of power.
