Mr. Opesusi Oluwafemi, the father of 19-year-old Faith Opesusi Timileyin, who took her life over her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has revealed that she d!ed after taking a po!sonous substance.
Faith, who intended to study Microbiology in the university, took her life after scoring low in her UTME results.
Speaking with BBC Pidgin on Thursday, Opesusi said
“My daughter scored very high in last year’s JAMB result. This year, they gave her 146 and that was what made her drink rat po!son.
“She was devastated and disappointed when she saw her results,” he said.
He went on to say, his daughter did not open up about her dissppointment. “If she had opened up, we would have consoled and told her that there is hope.”
Recall that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, through its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede had admitted there were errors in the just released results.
