A 52-year old Canada returnee, Morufudeen Idowu, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for assaulting a KAI official
Idowu assaulted the officer, who is an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (popularly known as KAI) at the Ojota area of Lagos state.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, Idowu was arrested after he allegedly physically attacked a KAI official who stopped him from crossing the Ojota expressway, in violation of Lagos State’s pedestrian safety regulations.
The Commissioner said, the incident occurred during routine enforcement activities by KAI officers to discourage illegal road crossing.
In a post on his verified X, Wahab disclosed that Mr Idowu, who claimed to have recently returned from Canada, refused lawful arrest and assaulted the official performing his duty.
