After a detailed investigation led by investigative public commentator and social critic, Damilola Adekunle, Abubakar’s death has been announced.
Recall that Dadiyata disappeared after being abducted by armed men at gunpoint from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna State.
Many concluded that his disappearance was a political attack due to his vocal criticism of popular politicians and his unwavering support for ex-presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In a shocking turn of events, Damilola announced that her investigation had confirmed Dadiyata was murdered via her Facebook page on Wednesday.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that after thorough investigations, I can confirm that Idris Abubakar, popularly known as Dadiyata, is officially dead. #Dadiyata was killed,” she said.
This is coming after Damilola announced a N10 million investigation fund on May 4, 2025, seeking legit information on Dadiyata’s whereabouts.
She promised the sum of 10 million naira to anyone who could give her a factual report on what actually happened to Dadiyata, urging citizens with facts to reach her via DM with valid information.
“I am launching a N10 million fund to reward anyone that can give me a fact-based investigation into what happened to Abubakar IDRIS (aka Dadiyata). If you know what happened to him, dead or alive, please come to my DM,” she wrote.
Since his disappearance on August 2, 2019, his family and supporters were left in the dark about his situation. Despite Amnesty International Nigeria blasting the FG’s handling of his case, no decisive action was taken.
Reports said that Dadiyata’s mother, who died in 2022 while he was still nowhere to be found, kept seeking justice for him until her demise.
Abubakar Idris’ disappearance sparked widespread outrage in Nigeria, with many linking his disappearance to his regular criticism of prominent Nigerian politicians.
