Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, paid a visit to former Kaduna State Governor and ex-FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai, at his residence in Abuja on Friday, July 25
Although the purpose of the meeting has not been officially disclosed, the two politicians have been linked to a growing coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu and the APC-led government ahead of the 2027 elections.
El-Rufai recently left the ruling APC to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and later moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside several key political figures from both the APC and opposition blocs.
Obi, who remains a member of the Labour Party, has consistently reaffirmed his intention to run for president again in 2027.
