The Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is in mourning following the d3ath of its only elected female councillor, Hon. Zainab Adeshewa Shotayo
Shotayo, who represented Ward C3 and served as Chief Whip of the 6th Legislative Arm, d!ed on Monday, August 18, 2025, after a brief illness. She was just 29 years old.
Her passing comes less than three weeks after she was sworn into office, making her one of the youngest councillors in Lagos State.
Council Chairman Hon. Seyi Jakande described her as a beacon of hope and a trailblazer for young women in politics, saying her resilience, leadership and dedication to service would not be forgotten.
The council secretariat in Ilupeju has been enveloped in grief, as colleagues and residents express shock over the loss of the young lawmaker.
