Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has called on members of the Kogi State House of Assembly to give full and unconditional backing to his successor, Governor Usman Ododo
In a video circulating on social media, Bello was seen instructing lawmakers to approve every proposal presented by Governor Ododo.
“As you are going in there now, go and cooperate with the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly of Kogi State, and be part of those who support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. Are you getting my point? In everything that comes to the Assembly—everything, everything—even if you don’t understand,” Bello told the legislators.Governor Ododo, who is Bello’s political godson, took office in January 2024, having previously served as Auditor-General for Local Governments in the state.
Meanwhile, Bello is currently facing multiple charges of fraud and money laundering filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He is alleged to have misappropriated over ₦80 billion in state funds through suspicious transactions, including the purchase of luxury properties in Abuja and Dubai, and payment of foreign school fees via intermediaries.
