    Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36

    Sharing the news on his social media, Ideye expressed gratitude to God, his family, friends, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his career.

    “After much thought and consideration with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to retire from professional football,” he wrote. “This game created me and gave me everything—joy, challenges, the opportunity to travel, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories.”Ideye also thanked his agents, sports journalists, and every club he represented, acknowledging their role in helping him achieve his dreams.

    Over a career spanning more than a decade, Ideye played for clubs across Europe and Africa, including Neuchâtel Xamax, Sochaux, Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, Olympiacos, and Enyimba FC. He earned 28 caps for the Nigerian national team, scoring six goals, and was part of the squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

    Following his retirement, Ideye has taken on a role as Director of Player Pathways and Partnerships at Atlantic Business Football Club, marking the start of his post-playing career in football management.

    Fans and fellow footballers have poured out messages of admiration and best wishes as Ideye begins this new chapter of his life.
