  • Atiku Drags Tinubu Over Controversial Presidential Pardon — Calls It a National Shame!

  • Following the release of convicted criminals under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's most recent presidential pardon list, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized Tinubu for what he called a careless, immoral, and disgraceful abuse of presidential power.
Atiku, who didn’t mince words, accused the Tinubu administration of mocking justice, rewarding corruption, and encouraging lawlessness, saying the move has disgraced Nigeria before the world.

Atiku Explodes: Tinubu’s Reckless Presidential Pardon Is a National Disgrace!

In a fiery statement titled “Tinubu’s Reckless Use of Presidential Pardon Undermines Justice and Emboldens Criminality,” the 2023 PDP presidential candidate said Tinubu has turned what should be a solemn moral instrument into a political weapon to protect the powerful and connected.

    > “Ordinarily, the power of presidential pardon is a tool to temper justice with mercy. But this latest one by Tinubu has done the very opposite. It has destroyed the sanctity of justice and embarrassed the nation,” Atiku declared.

According to the former Vice President, the pardon granted to people convicted of drug trafficking, kidnapping, murder, and corruption shows that the government has no respect for victims and no commitment to justice.

    > “It is shocking and indefensible that the presidency would grant clemency to people whose actions have destroyed lives and destabilized the country,” he fumed.

Atiku also exposed a disturbing statistic — nearly 30% of those pardoned were convicted for drug-related offences — at a time when Nigeria’s youth are being ravaged by narcotics and insecurity is at its peak.

    Tinubu’s Moral Standing Questioned

Taking a direct swipe at the President, Atiku referenced Tinubu’s controversial past involving alleged links to drug-related investigations in the United States, saying it’s no surprise that his government continues to tolerate criminal elements.

    > “It is no surprise that this administration continues to show a disturbing tolerance for individuals linked to criminal enterprise,” Atiku remarked.

He added that Tinubu’s latest action is a mockery of the justice system, a betrayal of victims, and a demoralization of law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to protect the nation.

Clemency Must Never Be Confused with Complicity’ — Atiku Warns

    > “A presidential pardon should represent repentance and reform — not a reward for corruption and crime,” Atiku said.
“Clemency must never be confused with complicity. When a government begins to forgive the very crimes it claims to be fighting, it loses its moral authority and emboldens lawlessness.”

The former Vice President concluded with a strong message to Nigerians:

    > “Nigeria deserves leadership that upholds justice, not one that trivializes it.”
