In a surprising development, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco, has officially resigned from office, citing health challenges that have hindered his ability to effectively perform his duties.
The Legislative Arm of the council confirmed the resignation after receiving and reading Azeez’s official letter. His decision, tendered on health grounds, was unanimously accepted by the council lawmakers, with immediate effect.
In an official statement, the council emphasized that Azeez’s resignation serves as a reminder of the need to prioritize personal health and well-being, even in public service, while upholding the integrity of governance.
Following his exit, the council’s Legislative Arm swiftly moved to ensure a smooth transition by appointing Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the new substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government.
Hon. Vinod Obasa, notably the son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, was unanimously approved by the lawmakers.
The council described Vinod’s appointment as a step toward maintaining stability, effective leadership, and uninterrupted service delivery to the people of Agege.
With this development, Agege LG is set to experience a new phase of leadership under the younger Obasa, even as residents await how the new administration will sustain ongoing projects and policies initiated under Hon. Tunde Azeez.
