With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, has announced the passing unto glory of The Venerable Edwin Achi, Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero.
Ven. Achi, who was abducted alongside his wife on 28th October 2025, has tragically been confirmed dead while still in captivity. His death marks a devastating loss, not only to the Diocese of Kaduna but to the entire Anglican family, the clergy, and all who encountered his exemplary life of service.
According to the Diocese, Ven. Achi was known for his faithful ministry, humility, and unwavering dedication to the work of God. His transition has left the church community in deep grief as they mourn a man described as a beacon of hope, love, and spiritual strength.
The Church is still calling for intensified prayers for the release and safe return of his wife and daughter, who remain in the hands of the abductors.
This heartbreaking development adds to the growing concerns over insecurity in Kaduna State and the increasing dangers religious leaders face in their line of duty.
May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God comfort his family and the entire Anglican Communion.
