  • DR. DOZIE IKEDIFE, DR. CHU OKONGWU & THE TRUTH ABOUT NNAMDI KANU — By Ezeikolomuo, Igbo Consciousness Teacher

  • Dr. Dozie Ikedife, one of the early five founders of IPOB, remains among the very few modern Igbo men who were buried according to the full honor and dignity befitting an accomplished Onye Igbo.

In Igbo tradition, “anaghị agba ozu dike enete maka na ayamaya anaghị afụ nga” — you do not display the body of a great man for public viewing, because what is sacred should not be exposed to all eyes.

Despite Ikenga Nnewi’s national prominence, only his immediate family members and a few elders set their eyes on his remains before he was quietly laid to rest. This is an ancient rule many accomplished Igbo figures have failed to honor. But Dr. Dozie Ikedife — a staunch promoter of Igbo tradition — left clear instructions that this sacred rule must be obeyed without compromise.

Even though he passed at a time when his friend was President of Nigeria, the family still followed his wishes.

Another example is Dr. Chu Okongwu, former Minister of Finance and a respected Ozo title holder in Nnewi, bearing the Ozo name Dunu Mekam. He too was buried without public viewing, honoring the customs of the land.

    WHY THESE TWO STORIES MATTER

    1. Dr. Dozie Ikedife’s Warning to Nnamdi Kanu

After Nnamdi Kanu’s first release from detention, Dr. Ikedife requested that he visit him. During that meeting, he told Kanu plainly that he was derailing.

    He warned him:

    • To stop insulting other tribes
    • To stop insulting the sitting President
    • To stop making inflammatory statements
    • That Biafra is a long-term project achievable only through diplomacy

    Did Nnamdi Kanu listen?
    No, he did not.

Ikenga Nnewi once said, “Each time you advise Nnamdi Kanu, he goes out and does worse.”

Dr. Ikedife, a seasoned medical practitioner, confided that he suspected Nnamdi Kanu might be suffering from schizophrenia.

    2. How IPOB Foot Soldiers Destroyed Chu Okongwu

Dr. Chu Okongwu’s country home sits beside the FRSC office in Nnewi. Out of goodwill, he voluntarily offered shelter to some FRSC staff — especially those from outside the state.

That simple act of kindness became his so-called “crime.”

IPOB foot soldiers burned down his home because he sheltered FRSC workers.

When the old man returned and saw the destruction caused by his own people, he was devastated. He died months later — heartbroken and overwhelmed by the cruelty.

THE TWO REAL REASONS FOR THESE STORIES

    1. Nnamdi Kanu Rejected Every Dialogue

Many Igbo elders tried to guide him, but his mental instability and stubbornness could not allow him to accept any superior reasoning that didn’t originate from his troubled mind.

    2. IPOB Has No Regard for What Is Sacred

Their actions repeatedly revealed disdain for elders, traditions, and sacred values.

WHY SOME IGBO ELITES ARE NOT BEING SINCERE

When the likes of Peter Obi shout, “Kanu should be dialogued with,” they know the truth about his mental condition but choose political correctness.

When Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and other lawmakers call on the President to release Kanu, they are acting out of fear — not sincerity.

    The truth is simple:

Nnamdi Kanu became a menace — a dangerous problem that neither the young nor the old in Igboland could manage anymore.

Any Igbo person who knows these truths yet comes out publicly to claim otherwise should be judged by the sacred land of Ala Igbo.

    THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH

Nnamdi Kanu should not be released.
Where he is now is exactly where individuals of his disposition should be.

If there is any sane and capable person within the Biafra agitation movement, let them step forward and lead the disillusioned followers responsibly.

But as for Nnamdi Kanu — he is right where he belongs.

It’s time to stop sugarcoating a truth that is self-evident.

    Si akpozina Afọ Nkwo.
