  • Tragedy in the Market: The Sudden Death of a Young Apprentice No One Saw Coming

  • Yesterday, I heard one of the most terrifying and heart-breaking news, and since then, my mind has been struggling to make sense of it.

There’s this young boy—just about 18 or 19—who serves one of the traders in the market. One of those humble, hardworking boys who, whenever their master’s goods arrive, will signal me immediately, take my phone, snap the items beautifully, and return it with a smile. Many of the boys in the market help me this way, and I appreciate them with small gifts and prayers whenever they are eventually settled.

But this story is different. Painfully different.

    “Where Is He?”

Last week, while doing a bag supply, I was short of 10 pieces, so I rushed to his shop to buy from him. The shop was locked. I asked around, and they said he didn’t come out that day. I didn’t think too much of it.

Two days ago, I remembered again and went back to check. The shop was still locked. This time, I asked his neighbor more seriously if his master had sent him away. The man shook his head slowly and said something that shattered me:

“No… that one for better. The boy don die.”

    I froze.

    Dead?
    How?

    What Really Happened?

The neighbor explained that the boy’s master had traveled to China. During that time, the boy started behaving strangely.

One day, after having some issues nobody could fully explain, he went into the shop, took a rope, and attempted to hang himself. They caught him early enough, brought him down, and tried to understand what was going on.

    He said nothing.

They then called one of his oga’s brothers, who took him home for the day. The following day, they returned him to his master’s house.

    Everyone assumed things would stabilize.

    But they didn’t.

    The Final Day

That same day, after he came to the market briefly, he went back home… but stopped on the way to buy sniper.

He got home, entered the toilet, drank the entire bottle, and died there.

    Just like that.

A young boy—full of life, energy, and dreams—gone in a way nobody expected, and for reasons nobody can explain.

    Questions That Won’t Stop Ringing

    What happened to him?
What was he battling with silently?
Why did he feel suicide was the only way out?

My head has been heavy since yesterday. This boy was vibrant… helpful… humble. Everyone in the market knew him. And now he’s just… gone.

    May his soul find peace.
And may anyone struggling silently find the courage to speak out before it’s too late.
