The Abia State Government, under the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Oti, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, hosted a state banquet in honour of renowned highlife musician and cultural icon, Bright Chimezie, to mark his 65th birthday.
The celebratory event, held in Umuahia, was a rare gesture of recognition by the state government, celebrating Bright Chimezie’s enduring contributions to music, culture, and national identity over several decades.
Expressing deep appreciation, the veteran artiste thanked Governor Oti for the honour and described the banquet as a meaningful show of goodwill and respect. He also acknowledged the presence and support of his family, government officials, royal fathers, and other distinguished guests who graced the occasion and contributed to the success of the event.
