Legal representatives of Pastor Dr. Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries (Grace Nation – Liberation City), have issued a strong statement addressing what they described as a coordinated campaign of cyber incitement, harassment, defamation, and impersonation allegedly led by social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, alongside a young woman identified as Miss Chi.
Speaking on behalf of the clergyman, the legal team expressed deep concern over recent viral publications and online interviews allegedly aimed at discrediting Pastor Okafor, defaming his character, and inciting public hostility against him.
According to the statement, the controversy resurfaced while an earlier case, said to have begun through allegations by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, remains under law enforcement investigation. The legal team noted that while those issues are pending before relevant authorities, a fresh wave of online attacks suddenly emerged, further targeting the pastor’s personality and ministry.
The briefing revealed that a lady identified as Miss Chi had allegedly been parading herself on social media as Pastor Okafor’s biological daughter, accusing him of abandonment and neglect — claims the pastor has now strongly denied.
The counsel stated that Pastor Okafor had initially chosen not to respond publicly but decided to clarify the situation to “set the record straight” following the continued spread of what they termed damaging misinformation.
They described the claims as “false, malicious, misleading, inciting, and injurious” to the image and reputation of the clergyman, stressing that the individual in question is not his biological child.
The statement narrated that years ago, at an early stage in Pastor Okafor’s ministry, a woman had claimed to be pregnant for him, leading to a relationship and eventual marriage. However, events allegedly took a dramatic turn after his reported kidnapping ordeal, during which his supposed wife was said to have distanced herself. Upon his release, tensions grew, leading to questions of loyalty and paternity suspicions.
According to the legal team, a DNA test later revealed that the children from the said union did not belong to Pastor Okafor. Despite this, they stated that the pastor continued to support the children’s welfare out of compassion, even assisting them academically, including opportunities abroad — but insisted such goodwill should never be mistaken as a confirmation of paternity.
They further condemned VeryDarkMan for allegedly publishing interviews and content without seeking Pastor Okafor’s version of events, describing the move as reckless, defamatory, and an attempt to destroy his image under the guise of activism.
The legal representatives listed their demands, including:
- Immediate retraction of all alleged defamatory publications
- A formal public apology published in two national newspapers
- Cessation of further claims of familial ties to the pastor
- A fresh DNA test in any certified facility if necessary
- Immediate removal of all misleading online content
They warned that failure to comply may force their client to seek redress through legal channels to protect his reputation and integrity.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Pastor Chris Okafor’s commitment to truth, dignity, and fairness, while urging the public to disregard what they described as false narratives circulated against him.
