The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion ahead of the seventh road edition of the Lagos Autofest 2025 race, scheduled to hold on Sunday, December 21.
In a traffic advisory released on Thursday, December 19, by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, motorists were informed that vehicular movement would be restricted around Inner Marina, Marina Road, and Kakawa Street on Lagos Island between 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m. to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
According to the advisory, the temporary road closures will cover key sections along the race route, including Marina Road (UBA axis), Kakawa Street, Balabina Street, Broad Street, Issah Williams Street, and a return stretch along Broad Street to Inner Marina, which will serve as the race endpoint.
The ministry further disclosed that all junctions and intersections from Marina Road (UBA) to Broad Street (Inner Marina) will be cordoned off with road barriers to restrict access to the main race corridor throughout the duration of the race.
Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and exercise patience during the period of the diversion. The state government assured residents that traffic management agencies, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, will be deployed to manage traffic and maintain order along the affected routes.
The government noted that the measures are aimed at ensuring effective traffic control while minimising disruption to vehicular movement across the area.
