Osogbo, the Osun State capital, witnessed a significant milestone in the health sector as the official building of the Modupe & Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital (MOFAMRTH) was formally commissioned today.
The commissioning ceremony was performed by Nigeria’s former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who described the project as a major contribution to healthcare delivery, medical research, and professional training in the state and beyond.
The hospital edifice was donated by renowned businesswoman and philanthropist, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, as part of her commitment to improving access to quality healthcare and strengthening medical education in Nigeria.
Records show that construction of the facility began in 2014 during the administration of former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola. After years of development, the hospital now stands as a modern medical and research centre expected to serve Osogbo and neighbouring communities.
With state-of-the-art facilities designed for healthcare delivery, training, and research, MOFAMRTH is anticipated to play a key role in advancing medical services in Osun State while also supporting the training of future health professionals.
