A heartbreaking incident has thrown a Lagos community into mourning after a 14-year-old boy identified as Emmanuel confessed to pushing his foster mother off the balcony of their two-storey building, leading to her death.
THE RUMOUR THAT TRIGGERED A DEADLY CHAIN OF EVENTS
According to Emmanuel’s confession, trouble began when a friend told him that the woman he calls mother was not his biological mother — and that he had been abandoned as a baby before she took him in.
Shaken by the rumour, the teenager confronted his mother at home. Instead of confirming or denying the claim, she only asked who told him.
When she heard the rumour came from his friend, she went straight to the friend’s house to confront him. His friend, in turn, claimed his own mother was the source.
This sparked a heated quarrel between both women.
Back home, the boy again demanded answers from his mother. She still refused to discuss it.
THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED
Days later, during an argument, the woman — out of anger and frustration — told the boy that she was not his biological mother and that he should “go and look for his real mother.”
According to Emmanuel, those words sank deep into his heart.
That same night around 10:30pm, the teenager deliberately threw the cover of their small plastic water tank off the balcony to create noise.
The sound woke his mother, who rushed outside to check what happened.
He hid behind her.
As she leaned over the balcony to inspect the noise, he pushed her.
She fell two storeys down, landing headfirst on the ground.
The woman was rushed to the hospital and fought for her life for two days before she finally passed away.
BOY CONFESSES WITHOUT REMORSE
In a disturbing twist, Emmanuel confessed to the act while smiling into the camera, showing no visible remorse.
He stated that his only anger was that the woman told him she was not his biological mother.
When asked if she ever maltreated him, he admitted she never did.
A MOTHER WHO LOST HER SON — THEN LOST HER LIFE TO THE CHILD SHE RESCUED
It was gathered that the deceased woman previously had one biological son who tragically drowned in a river years ago.
After the tragedy, she adopted Emmanuel — the same child who would later end her life.
Her remains have since been deposited in the morgue.
