A family in Anambra State has been thrown into deep mourning following the gruesome killing of a young woman, Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu, whose lifeless body was discovered inside the residence of her supposed fiancé under disturbing circumstances.
Ogechukwu, described by relatives as loving, kind-hearted and full of life, was reportedly engaged to a man identified as Valentine Chibuike Anaikpe, a native of Umuoji in Anambra State. The tragic incident, which occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning, has sparked outrage and renewed calls for justice.
According to family sources, Valentine contacted Ogechukwu on the night of Monday, December 8, 2025, at about 9:00 p.m., claiming he was unwell and unable to help himself. He allegedly requested that she assist him by purchasing medication and bringing it to his house. Moved by concern and affection, Ogechukwu reportedly bought the drugs and went to his residence, which was said to be close to hers.
On arrival, the man allegedly claimed his condition had worsened and pleaded with her to stay overnight to help care for him. Ogechukwu reportedly informed her mother of the situation, explaining that she would not be able to return home until the next morning. Unbeknownst to her family, this would be the last time they would hear from her alive.
By Tuesday morning, December 9, Ogechukwu had not returned home. Repeated attempts to reach her and Valentine by phone were unsuccessful, raising alarm among family members. As panic spread, concerned relatives and acquaintances went to Valentine’s house to check on them.
What they found was horrifying.
Ogechukwu’s body was reportedly discovered lying on the floor in a pool of blood, bearing multiple stab wounds allegedly inflicted with a knife and other sharp objects. The suspect was nowhere to be found, and his whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of this report.
The incident has been reported to security authorities, and the family is urging law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to track down the suspect and ensure justice is served. They are also appealing to members of the public to assist with any useful information that could lead to his arrest.
Anyone with credible information about Valentine Chibuike Anaikpe is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the family through the phone number: 08035279901.
As investigations continue, the family insists that Ogechukwu must not become another forgotten statistic, stressing that her life mattered and her death must not go unanswered.
“My cousin deserves justice,” the family said.
