Former Super Eagles star and ex-coach Sunday Oliseh has stirred major transfer buzz after revealing that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could be on his way to Real Madrid next summer.
According to Oliseh, the Spanish giants are closely monitoring Osimhen, with strong indications that the striker has emerged as a top candidate to join the club ahead of the 2026 season.
Osimhen to Replace Vinicius Jr?
Oliseh hinted that Osimhen may be lined up as a potential replacement for Vinicius Junior, who is reportedly considering an exit from the club. The Brazilian winger has yet to agree to a contract extension, even though his current deal runs until 2027.
With Kylian Mbappé already at Madrid, Oliseh believes the French superstar can easily switch back to the left wing if Vinicius departs — opening up the central striker role for Osimhen.
“There’s a lot of talk about Osimhen being a candidate. I won’t say how I got the information, but when I heard it from a top personality, I was happy for the young man,” Oliseh said on Insight Podcast.
Osimhen’s Current Form
Osimhen, who made a permanent switch to Galatasaray last summer after leaving Napoli, has been in impressive form. Despite injury setbacks, he has already scored six goals in the Champions League this season, showing the type of firepower that Real Madrid reportedly wants.
The Super Eagles star rejected lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League to remain in Europe, with Galatasaray stepping up to meet his salary demands.
A Historic Move Loading?
If the move materializes, Osimhen would become the first Nigerian-born player to feature for Real Madrid’s first team. While Oladimeji Lawal and Mutiu Adepoju once featured for the club’s B team, no Nigerian has broken into the senior squad.
With Real Madrid rebuilding their attack and Vinicius’ future uncertain, all eyes are now on whether this blockbuster transfer will become a reality.
