  • VAT Allocation: What Nigeria’s Six Geo-Political Zones Contributed and Received in November 2025

  • Fresh figures from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) have revealed how Nigeria’s six geo-political zones contributed to the Value Added Tax (VAT) pool and what they received in return for the month of November 2025.

The data highlights significant disparities between contributions and allocations across the regions, reflecting the current VAT sharing formula and broader economic realities within the country.

The South-West emerged as the highest contributor, paying ₦253.71 billion into the VAT pool. However, the zone received ₦66.87 billion, representing 26.35 percent of its total contribution.

The South-South contributed ₦51.24 billion and received ₦37.78 billion, amounting to 73.74 percent of what it paid into the pool.

In contrast, the North-West contributed ₦31.98 billion but received ₦46.49 billion, translating to 145.34 percent of its contribution.

The North-East paid ₦17.35 billion and received ₦32.40 billion, equivalent to 186.77 percent.

Similarly, the North-Central zone contributed ₦16.51 billion and received ₦32.25 billion, which is 195.31 percent of its contribution.

The South-East recorded the lowest contribution at ₦13 billion, yet received ₦27.13 billion, representing 208.69 percent of what it contributed.

The figures have once again sparked conversations around Nigeria’s VAT distribution framework, with analysts noting the wide gap between economically productive regions and allocation outcomes under the existing revenue-sharing formula.
