Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has once again appealed for help during a recent live session on popular influencer Odogwukiwi’s page, revealing the depth of the challenges she is currently facing.
According to Halima, she needs about ₦25 million to address pressing health concerns and settle other urgent needs. She disclosed that Odogwukiwi had previously helped raise about ₦6.5 million for her, but the situation has since worsened.
The actress revealed that her landlady has asked her to vacate her residence in Lokogoma, Abuja, despite her attempt to pay ₦2.5 million for rent. Halima said she removed the money and offered it to the landlady, but the offer was rejected, as the landlady insisted she must leave the apartment.
Visibly emotional during the live session, Halima said she feels helpless and unsure of what to do next. She mentioned that she had reached out to several high-profile individuals, including Yahaya Bello and music executive Don Jazzy, but claimed that although her messages were read, she received no responses. She further alleged that many of her colleagues in Nollywood have abandoned her, leaving her without friends or family support.
Halima stated that she is currently battling a brain tumour and broke down in tears while speaking about her condition. She emphasized that she is alone, dealing with the illness by herself.
In the comments section of the live broadcast, some individuals who claimed to live close to her Lokogoma residence offered her temporary accommodation to help keep her belongings safe. However, several other commenters warned them to be cautious, suggesting that helping her could be risky. These reactions sparked concern among viewers, with many describing the discouragement of potential helpers as disheartening.
There were also allegations from some quarters that Halima might be exaggerating or pretending about her illness. She strongly refuted these claims, expressing anger and disbelief that anyone would suggest she could fake a sickness of such magnitude. According to her, she provided the name and address of the hospital where she is receiving treatment to clear doubts.
Halima explained that she needs to remain in Abuja because that is where her planned surgery will take place. She also disclosed that she previously spent about ₦9.5 million on her mother’s medical treatment when her mother was critically ill, noting that much of the money raised for her over the years went into covering her mother’s hospital bills.
She maintained that her only desire is to regain her health so she can return to work and take care of herself. Adding to her struggles, Halima revealed that her Instagram page, which she relied on for income, was taken down when it had about 1.2 million followers.
The actress’s story has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy, while others remain skeptical. Nonetheless, her situation highlights a series of misfortunes that have kept her in the public eye for reasons far beyond her acting career.
