The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against popular social media blogger Adetoun Onajobi, widely known online as @justadetoun, over allegations of cyberbullying and the publication of false information against the Ogun State Government and the Governor.
The charges are currently pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court and are said to be anchored on provisions of the Cybercrimes Act.
According to the Police, investigations revealed that Onajobi allegedly used various internet-enabled platforms to circulate unverified and false accusations, which authorities describe as targeted online harassment against the state government and the governor.
On January 2, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command invited the blogger for questioning to enable her respond to the allegations. However, she reportedly failed to honour the invitation. Instead, her lawyer wrote to the Police, claiming she was medically indisposed. A medical report was attached to the letter, allegedly detailing serious health challenges and ongoing treatment.
Further investigations by the Police, however, reportedly uncovered that the medical report was false. The doctor who issued the report was arrested and later confessed that the document was fabricated at the instruction of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation, allegedly facilitated by her lawyer.
Following this confession, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstruction of justice.
The Police stated that Adetoun Onajobi has since remained evasive and has continued to ignore multiple invitations extended to her. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating all forms of crime, including digital and cyber-related offences, while respecting the constitutional rights of citizens. The Command, however, emphasized that freedom of expression has legal boundaries and does not shield individuals from criminal liability.
Authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals allegedly linked to the dissemination of false information aimed at obstructing police investigations. The Police maintained that all lawful means will be employed to apprehend Adetoun Onajobi and ensure her appearance in court to answer the charges filed against her.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and dated January 19, 2026.
