  • TRAGEDY: Suspected ‘One Chance’ Robbers Kill Abuja Nurse After Work Shift

  • A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Federal Capital Territory as a nurse identified as Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem has reportedly been killed by a suspected ‘one chance’ robbery syndicate in Abuja.

According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred on January 3, 2026, shortly after she closed from her afternoon duty and was on her way home. Sadly, her lifeless body was discovered the following morning, January 4, dumped by the roadside before being taken to the FMC Jabi mortuary.

Until her death, Chinemerem worked with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, where she was highly regarded by colleagues and patients for her dedication to duty.

The news of her death has thrown the nursing community into deep mourning, sparking outrage and strong calls for justice. Heartbroken colleagues and members of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) have demanded immediate and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure those responsible are brought to book.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of NANNM FCT Council, Comr. Jama D. Medan, expressed shock over the tragic development and urged security agencies to intensify efforts in tackling the menace of ‘one chance’ criminal syndicates terrorizing residents of the capital city.

The suspected robbery-related killing has once again raised concerns over rising insecurity and the safety of healthcare workers and commuters in Abuja.

May her soul rest in peace, and may justice prevail.
