Angela Okorie Apologises to Mercy Johnson After Release From Detention

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has broken her silence following her release from detention over the cyberstalking case involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

In an emotional apology video that has since gone viral, Angela tearfully expressed regret over her past actions and comments, openly asking Mercy Johnson for forgiveness. In the video, she retracted earlier accusations and clarified that Mercy was not what she had previously described her to be.

“I’m really sorry, Mercy Johnson, please forgive me. You’re not a witch, you’re not what people are calling you. Our children may meet in the future and become best of friends,” she said.

The actress also extended her apology to Mercy Johnson’s children and family, stressing that she has chosen peace over prolonged conflict. According to her, the decision to apologise was borne out of reflection and a desire to move forward without bitterness.

Angela Okorie’s apology comes just days after she met her bail conditions and regained her freedom from Suleja Prison, where she was held in connection with the cyberstalking case.

The development has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating whether the apology was genuine or influenced by legal pressure. While some praised her for choosing reconciliation, others questioned the timing and sincerity of the public apology.

As reactions continue to trail the video, Angela concluded her message with a call for peace, noting that harmony is always better than conflict.

“Peace is better than war,” she said, while thanking her supporters and praying for God’s blessings.
