A Nigerian businesswoman has shared her painful journey of resilience after betrayal and hardship nearly cost her life and livelihood.
According to her account, she lost her job in 2022 and spent almost three years at home without stable income. During that period, she repeatedly appealed to her husband for financial support to start a drinks shop, having identified a gap in her area. He declined, insisting he had no money for such an investment. She later discovered he had rented an apartment for another woman around the same time.
In 2024, her only brother stepped in and funded the business for her. Though her husband reportedly expressed displeasure over the support, the venture quickly began to thrive. Within eight months, she expanded and opened a second branch.
However, tragedy struck last year when she was involved in an accident that required urgent surgery. While battling for her life in the hospital, she alleged that her husband demanded her ATM card PIN before agreeing to sign the consent form for the operation. With doctors pleading and her condition deteriorating due to severe bleeding, she said she gave him a fake PIN to secure his signature.
She survived the surgery but claimed her husband refused to contribute to the hospital bills. After being discharged, she returned home to another shock — one of her shops had been broken into, emptied of goods, and abandoned. She believes her husband was responsible, noting that he was unaware of the second branch, which remained intact.
Since the incident, she says he disappeared and made no attempt to check on her wellbeing.
Recently, she received a call from him seeking forgiveness, revealing he is currently battling kidney stones. She said she immediately blocked his number.
Her story has sparked conversations online about financial independence, domestic betrayal, and the importance of family support in times of crisis.
