Tragic Truck Collision Leaves Two Dead on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway

In a devastating accident earlier today, two individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision between two fully loaded 40-foot container trucks along the Cele inward axis of the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway, near Mile 2 in Lagos.

Eyewitnesses reported that the crash occurred during peak traffic hours, causing significant disruption to commuters and motorists in the area. The trucks, believed to be transporting goods, collided with immense force, leading to the immediate fatalities. Emergency services, including personnel from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), responded swiftly to the scene to manage the aftermath and clear the wreckage.

Details surrounding the cause of the accident remain unclear at this time, but preliminary investigations suggest that factors such as speeding or mechanical failure may have played a role. The expressway, a major artery for commercial transport in Lagos, is notorious for heavy truck traffic and frequent incidents due to poor road conditions and overloading.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially when handling large vehicles, and to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their families.
