A wave of grief has swept through Umunede and Ughelli following the heartbreaking loss of Mrs. Christopher Happiness of Obi Quarter, Umunede.
Mrs. Happiness had been living in Shagamu with her husband, an indigene of Ughelli, where they were raising their two children aged nine and five. Tragedy first struck when her husband was hit by a trailer while returning from work in Shagamu. He was laid to rest on December 22, 2025.
In the aftermath of his burial, she relocated to Lagos in what many believe was an effort to rebuild her life and care for her young children. Sadly, fate dealt another devastating blow. She was reportedly hit by a trailer in Lagos and lost her life.
Within a matter of weeks, two young children have been left without both parents — a loss that has left family members, friends, and residents in deep shock.
As news of the incident spreads, mourning continues in Umunede and Ughelli, where the pain of this double tragedy is deeply felt.
