Gunmen Kill University Student in Plateau Community Attack

Gunmen have killed a 300-level student of the Federal University of Education Pankshin in Dum Village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Badung Sunday Alamba, was reportedly ambushed on Monday night when attackers opened fire on two young men at the entrance of the village. While his companion, Dachomo Habila, narrowly escaped, Alamba was shot dead.

A community member, Dung Elisha, described the incident as devastating, noting that the deceased was the only child of his mother.

The killing has drawn condemnation from the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM). Its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, described the attack as “premeditated, calculated and barbaric,” alleging that such assaults have continued to target communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and Jos South Local Government Areas.

He called for a thorough investigation and urged security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible, while also appealing for improved security presence in vulnerable areas.

As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
