Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has said his son will not be buried until the ongoing DNA dispute involving his grandson, Liam, is settled
Speaking to journalists after a court session at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu on Tuesday, Aloba said the DNA test is important not just because of the paternity question, but also because he believes it could help provide more answers about the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
“This DNA test is a must. The issue goes beyond paternity. We are trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s d.eath. His death was not natural, so the DNA test has become the most important issue delaying his burial," he said.
Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, d!ed in September 2023. His body was later exhumed as part of efforts to investigate his death, but the disagreement over his son’s paternity has continued for years.
The family’s lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, told the court that they want the DNA process handled through a court approved laboratory to ensure transparency.
The case has been postponed till August 11, 2026, for further hearing on the application brought before the court by the Aloba family’s legal team.
