Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he described as the worsening purchasing power of Nigerians.
Atiku made the comment while reacting to findings from the latest Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Household Expectations Survey, which he said showed that Nigerian families are increasingly struggling to afford homes, vehicles and other basic household assets.
According to the former vice president, the survey reflects the growing economic pressure facing households across the country, with rising costs making it increasingly difficult for families to meet their needs and make major purchases.
He argued that the development was an indication that the economic policies of the current administration had failed to adequately protect the purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians.
Atiku said the situation should serve as a warning to policymakers, stressing the need for measures capable of improving household incomes, reducing the cost of living and restoring confidence in the economy.
The former vice president has repeatedly criticised the Federal Government's economic policies, particularly over inflation, rising living costs and the impact of reforms on ordinary Nigerians.
The latest comments are likely to fuel further debate over the state of the Nigerian economy, as the government continues to defend its reforms as necessary steps toward achieving long-term economic stability and growth.
