Bandits Kill ASP Bala Wakili, Set Two Police Patrol Vehicles Ablaze in Sokoto

 


Armed bandits have reportedly killed an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Bala Wakili, during an attack in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attackers also set two police patrol vehicles ablaze during the assault, causing significant damage to security assets in the area.

According to reports, the incident occurred while security operatives were carrying out their duties, with the gunmen launching a deadly attack that claimed the life of the senior police officer.

ASP Bala Wakili was said to have died in the line of duty as security personnel engaged the attackers during the confrontation.

The assailants reportedly fled the scene after torching the patrol vehicles, while security agencies launched efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.

The latest incident highlights the persistent security challenges facing parts of Sokoto State and the North-West region, where bandit attacks have continued to threaten lives, communities, and security personnel.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts to apprehend the perpetrators were ongoing.
