No fewer than 21 persons have been feared killed and 37 others abducted after heavily armed bandits invaded Tsamaye community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community in large numbers, unleashing violence that left several residents dead, many others missing, and thousands displaced from their homes.
According to reports, the assailants carried out coordinated attacks on the community, forcing residents to flee into nearby villages and surrounding bushes in search of safety.
The attack has triggered a humanitarian crisis in the area, with thousands of displaced residents reportedly seeking refuge in safer communities following the deadly invasion.
Local sources said the bandits also abducted at least 37 people during the assault, while many houses and properties were affected by the attack.
Security operatives have reportedly been deployed to the area to restore order and intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and track down those responsible for the attack.
The latest incident underscores the persistent security challenges confronting communities in parts of northwestern Nigeria, where recurring bandit attacks have continued to claim lives, destroy livelihoods, and force residents from their homes.
